2 screws through the body keep the body from rotating round the column. The weight of the body is supported by the column.
The clamp which is used to fixate the the work table on the column.
In the work table and in the base of a drill press there a slots. These slots are made so a vise can be mounted on the table/base. This can be a big advantage or even necessary if you want to work precisely or drill in hard materials (hard wood or steel). The vise can be fixated using bolts through the base/work table and the vise.
A vise.
The work table can be brought under an angle, this can be useful when a holle needs to be drilled under an angle which is not 90°.
The column
The column is a hollow steel pipe. the lengt of the pipe will determine the thickness of the pipe. It will also determine which kind of work pieces the drill can handle. If the drill press has a short column, the drill will have to be installed on a table and it will be convenient for small, low work pieces. A drill press with a large column can handle much larger work pieces because the maximum distance between the drill and the base/work table.
